If your having troubles getting the permethrin to work , try taking a hot bath for 1 hour before treatment. Make sure you dry yourself completely before applying it. Sometimes scabies gives you thick skin, the bathing will help open up your pores so that the permethrin can penetrate your skins layers and kill your scabies. And sometimes scabies also needs a second treatment 5-7 days later to break the scabies cycle. After this you should be in post scabies, remember you will itch just as much as active scabies in post scabies for 3-4 weeks as your skin heals.

Do you know if keeping the permethrin on longer will help kill them more if your skin is thicker? I was thinking instead of putting it on for 14 hours that I would put it on for 24 hours then take a 1 hour bath afterwards. Do you think this would help more fighting off a case of resistant scabies or what seems to be resistant scabies? I know it is not norwegian scabies but it is defintely a tough to beat case of scabies.

Thanks

So if your skin is really thick you need to open the pores more for the permethrin to work? I kind of figured this as I was always getting reinfected as my skin seemed to thick for it to kill the scabies. It is either this or the scabies are resistant to the scabies.

I heard this works also, sometimes its even good to bath alot prior to treatments so it can penetrate your skin further and kill the scabies.
