Scabies is an infectious skin condition and therefore it required appropriate treatment to stop the infestation to the other parts of the body or to other individuals. Scabies requires appropriate medication, so as to eliminate the underlying mites in the skin, however, there are a few things that you can do so as to prevent the second infestation of scabies.

To begin with, if there is a family member infected with scabies, you must ensure that all the personal items of this individual are not used by others in the family. All accessories including the linens, combs, beddings and more should be washed in hot water. To prevent scabies from transmitting on to others, keep these things as dry as possible since scabies can thrive and reproduce in warm and moist environments. The medication should be started immediately after diagnosis and care should be taken that the infected individual is not brought into crowded places, since considering the infectious nature of mites, there is always a danger of epidemics.

Scabies can cause a lot of itching and discomfort to the sufferer; hence you may use antihistamines to reduce the rash and other symptoms of scabies. Other medications must not be combined with the scabies treatments since they could lead to complex chemical reactions. Do not scratch the rash, since this could also cause infestation on the nails or the scalp. Tea tree oil is one of the best natural treatments for scabies since the oil is known to possess curative and antiseptic properties. It is also effective in soothing down the itch caused by scabies.

I use those lysol wet nap things and they work great. I also wipe everything down in the morning and evening with a cloth and a small ammount of bleach. The key is not getting reinfected again as these things can live off your body for like 3-6 days depending on the temperatures or conditions within your environment. The key is learning more about the scabies cycle so you can use it against them.

Good Luck
