How long can someone actually have scabies, I have heard if you had it for 1 year you could have it up to 7 years. I mean the symptoms and such can last becaue the layers and debrie under the skin. Does anyone know anymore.

People have died from scabies taking them over, in most cases people diagnose and treat it quickly, though if you have a weak immune system scabies can last up to 7 years. I think it goes, if you had them for 3 years youll be in post scabies for another 3 years.

Yeah it is referred to as the 7 year itch, so some people could have it up to 7 years, or the signs and itchiness associated with scabies can last 7 years. I guess its all about what kind of things your doing in the post scabies phase that makes how long you will have it take. Scabies sucks my 8 year old daughter had it for 6months and she was not herself for about 2 years :(

Scabies is something you have to stay ontop of to get rid of it.

I guess it really depends on how long you had the scabies before you were diagnosed, this will play a huge role in how long it will take to get rid of the scabies. The skin to thickens the longer you have them making it take longer to clear the scabies and the debris the scabies produce. Then not to mention you have post scabies to deal with where your skin is healing from all the treatment and scabies debris.

God Bless

According to this article they are nicknamed the 7 year itch so I would assume that they can last up to 7 years.

Ok so I had scabies for six months, went through lots of treatments from my derm. Moved out from where I was and did another treatment; then I moved into an apartment in august, by the begining of October I had no symptoms not even post symptoms. Now the past week I got some bumps on my left arm and then today on my right arm? It itches about the same throughout the day. Is it possible for this to be post scabies? I mean hell, I haven't had sex in six months and my new roommate dosent have it and we talk about it openly.help me somebody please!!!

If you notice that rash on both sides of your body and you have intense itching at night you most likely have it again, post scabies can bring lessions ,typically from your skin being allergic to the debri and chemical, but if you notice the rashes are cluttered or you see pin prick little red dots you could be reinfected with scabies again.

I had them for over a year misdiagnosed with exzemma and than once properly diagnosed it took me years to cure, well treating them was easy enough but the post scabies last a super long time if you delay treatment rite away or have been misdiagnosed. Just hold your head up high and constnatly push forward by learning more about the scabies mite and their cycle.

Yup scabies is known as the 7 year itch. I would think however long you had it it will take that long to cure it as it builds up more on the skin.

Correction:

"seven year itch" is a slang term for husbands that want to cheat on thier wives after being married for 7 years. Some idiot posted it up at wilkpeda in the scabies posts, and it was incorrectly parrioted across the internet.

You can have scabies until you die. Scabies won't kill you (unless to get a bad bacteria infection in the sores). To treat scabies, get perscription %5 elimite permethin creme, do't get that junk azz perrigo brand creme (. Do a google search for "cured scabies" look for "scabies" and "permethrin" at wikipedia.org.

If scabies are crewing you a new azz (they are more ac tive in some people when they try to sleep), go to a drug store or grociery store (firstaid section) and by NIX, RID lice cremes, it has 1% permethrin, it won't cure you , but if you put it on over night, it might hold you over untill you see a doctor and get a prescription. I was misdiagnosted 6 times , Doctor go to scholl 20 years and it is still easy to find a dumbazz doctor.

Good luck.

Check out the ted from tialand borax and hydrogemn periox rinse treatment, its NOT a cure, but if you have the open sores it helps, also NO DAM SUGER, it makes the sores terrible.

Don't spread it to you friends and family and local prositute, so the the doctor for a prescription.

People complaining "permethrin" don't work are using that junkzz perrrigo brand permethrin creme (I went thrun 2 2tubes, it was supoosed to be 5% permethrin, I think it had like > 0.5% permethern in it. The NIX lice tretment is better than prescription perrigo %5 permetrin creme. its made in Bronx NY, the FDA is too scared their tires will br stolen off their car to inspect the perrigo factory.

DEATH to all scabies mites!!

Take a shower, clean sores with isopropl (rubbing) alchol, then put a good amount of "Baby lotion" on the bad skin helps to make the skin with sores feel better. It does kill mites, but if you habve the sores caused by having scabbies for yearrs because several jackazz doctors keep giving you anti-botics that kill germs but dot do a dam thing for a butg, the pink bottle johnsons baby lotion makes you feel better.

You have to get permetrin to kill scabies.

Sulfur cremes stink like a perm, but they help the skin heal, cvs.com has a non-perscription 8%sulpur acne medine.

Tea Tree oil at cvs.com 10$ a bottle helps heal the sores too, but will not kill the mites, it does make them "move to new areas".

2 showers a day helps if you have the scabbies sores, soaking in a tub helps too, put some borax (20 mule team) 4 handfuls of it in your bath so mite get killed and dont more to another area on you in bath. Boar baths rub a little on sores (hurts) but really cleans then out.

Good luck to you mite diggers!! Get the %5 permethrin !!

The sulfur creams for scabies are odourless and actually work very well. Why someone would put permethrin on their body is besides me when htey can just use sulfur as it is more effective in killing mites.

I actually went to Europe in December, and I really am not sure where exactly I got the scabies. First I traveled to Italy, then I went to many hotels in Germany, then to France. But anyway, I know I got them there, because that's where the itch began. The itch just started under my buttocks, on the folding between my leg. I thought of it as nothing, maybe my skin was dry. Then I began to notice that my butt crack began to itch. And slowly, or I should rather say FASTLY it began to spread. I got back from Europe January 6th, and immediately I searched and came out with SCABIES. That was the only answer to this.

BUT I was not going to let this control my life. I've had experience with having itching infections since I was in 5th grade. My first one was on my feet One day when I was a Freshman, my mom put bleach and all this other crap on me, and VOILA! the itch went away. That itch that I spent years with went away. My mom was a genius! After that, I began itching on my vagina and surroundings (btw, excuse me for all this info, but I think it will really help people) And I used the same thing; bleach and this other that liquid she had made before, since she still had some.

Well, now, a college student, I do not have my mom's secret recipe, but I did know that I could kill them will acid and bleach :) I was not going to let them control me. You see, I see these little critters as people. They're just there bugging you, literally. They want to control your life, because they do. They don't let you concentrate because they itch so much. But anywho, I'm sure you want to know what I did. So I'll move on.

This is what I used:

Bleach
Hot Shot Bed Bug and Flea Spray (It cost me $6 at Walmart)
Top Care Hydrocortisone 1% Cream (To soothe itching after it dried. Didn't really use it though)

This is what I DID:
I washed ALL my clothes and put them to dry VERY well to kill anything that was there.
While that was happening, I went to take a shower. Here was my process:
I filled a regular water bottle half way with water and a little halfway with bleach. I washed myself regularly, but after scrubbing myself, I poured the water bottle ALL over my body, not just the infected area, just in case they're crawling somewhere we can't feel them yet. Wash the folds of your body, EVERYWHERE. Now, if you have open wounds, I'm sorry to say this, but it's going to hurt like a mofo. But just see it this way; you're killing the mofos! A little pain won't kill you.

Now, after you're done with that, dry yourself with a clean towel. Do not dress in anything that you wore before showering. Put anything you had to wash. Now, before changing, spray the bed bug spray all over the clothes you'll be wearing. inside, everywhere. Once you're done with that, you spray YOURSELF. Yes, yourself. As I mentioned before, It will hurt if you have open wounds (I had them) But oh well. Just spray some on your hands and rub it all around. Put your clothes on and begin to spray your bed. Remember to wash bed covers! Spray the matress first, then put your sheets and spray those, then cover, and so on. spray all around the room where you think you might have scabies. Spray all clothes just in case.

Everytime you change, remember to spray yourself and the clothes. Never use a towel twice. and if you do, spray it before hand.

How long did I do this for? For a week or so. Did it work? YES. I don't have scabies, thank god! You will still have a little itching afterward, because your body is still allergic to the eggs they left, but it will go away. I really recommend you do this. I know there's a lot of people who will say "uhm that's dangerous, read the label"
Yes, I read the label, and it's not like i did it for years. I had the feet infection for 5 years and my mom removed it in one day. Now you tell me, you want to try all these $100 products and let them fail, or you want to try something that is strong and get rid of it soon?

Good luck to those :) And remember, don't let them control you!!

At this point I see your posts are nothing more than spam so I will just paste what I wrote in your other post once again.

Bleach is the worst thing you can do to kill scabies. You are going to permanently damage your skin. I am a registered nurse and have seen hundreds of scabies cases. I have seen some cases of people coming in who were desperate enough to try this and let me say they only damaged their skin even worse and picked up secondary skin infections that never went away. If you want a real scabies killer and don't want to put pesticides on your body just use sulfur creams.

Never use bleach on your skin!

Nancy
