On 6/20 I treated for scabies with Permethrin (and 7 days later again) and now I think I am free of scabies(well hoping). I've been borrowing a car from my grandmother, and left my car sitting in the garage for weeks now. I didnt do anything to my car other then leave it in the garage. When do you think it is safe to start using again? How about 1month ? What ever is sufficient time to guarantee I wont get reinfested if that was the original place i got it.

Thanks

If its hot , then I would say like 2 weeks max is sufficient. Some mite say one week but I would just leave it for 2 if you can.

Good Luck

Yes two weeks should be fine unless you had a severe case of scabies and were always in your car or something. Typically a person diagnosed with scabies rite away only has between 8-15 mites on them. A person with norwegian scabies can have thousands of mites on them and in this case the mites would have evolved and may be able to live off of a host for a longer period of time. If you were diagnosed rite away 2 weeks would be plenty of time for anything left in your car to die off. If you want to be on the safe side make a tea tree oil spray and spray it down and if you have extra money get your interior dry cleaned. Typically scabies will die after 3-5 days off of the host.

Should be safe! Ofcourse unless you had something like norwegian scabies which is just a more intense form of scabies that the host has thousands of them on them. You should be fine

2 weeks of leaving scabies away from a host is an easy scabies kill, everything in your car should be fine after about 7-8 days guarantteed.

I would suggest before you start using it regularly again that you carefully vacuum it and disinefect it with some kind of spray such as lysol. Personally I would use a good 2 cans of lysol just to make sure.. I am pretty paranoid though. Especially after dealing with scabies for 8 months.
