I was just curious how many people pick this up from family members versus like classmates or friends. Do you know if it is picked up more within households as oppossed to human contact.

I would be intrested to know

I picked up an abandoned puppy ,who was really pink and itchy on it's belly. I took it to a friend of mine who raises dogs. She said that it was a type of mange that is completely curable. She gave it 2 shots,7 days apart. and now the puppy is fine. However, my 8 year old son and I ,both, have contracted scabies. This "mite" that gives dogs "dermasistic" mange, "is" the human scabie! I'm just finding all this out. Now I'm not sure what my next step should be.but, I do know that I'll never touch another animal again, unless I know for sure that it's ok.

I am sure alot of people can relate with your story whether they contracted scabies, rat mites, bird mites or some kind of mange. I know since I got scabies my whole mindset of what I touch is totally different, I wont even lay on the ground or touch people ever again I am so paranoid. Be sure you start treatment rite away and start a maticulous cleaning and hygiene plan, be sure to keep your nails cut really short as in my experience they like to dig into under the nail area. I am not sure but pretty sure that dog mange can only live on dogs, though a dog can host scabies but only for so long as they can only be a carrier of scabies because scabies prefers living on a human host, but mange and scabies are basically the same if left untreated result in hair loss that is why you see dogs with hair loss stay far away. At one point I thought I got my scabies from a dog as well because I was hanging around a guys house whos dog had mange and at the time I never thought anything of it until months after I had scabies I was curious and read more.

Anyways I wish you luck with your battle, be sure to read around the forums there is a ton of info and ask any question.
