I have done tons of reading. It is always mentioned that scabies itch more at night but never say why. Is there any reason why this is? It can't be because the scabies are in your bed - I always spray the bed and change the sheets. During the day I hardly itch and then at night the battle starts. Anyone know why?

Mites are light phobic. They remain in your skin during the day. It must be a survival thing. The mites will stay quiet during these times, in hopes that they don't fall off or get scratched off. They need blood to survive so they come out at night. They are very good at survival.

Absolutley they itch way more at night, damn bastards keep me up late. Seems like i get no sleep. During the day i seem to be fine with the exception of certain moments. It seems i feel them more when my body temperature is hotter. Anyone know why this is? Seems it triggers them to become active

More like birds, the birds are very active during the day, biting themselves if they have mites, flying around. Mites need blood to reproduce. The mites leave your skin in the day time when you are actually, may be they just don’t want to fall off skin.Night time is when mammals relax and sleep. then it's time for the mites to reproduce. they are very good at survival.

When symptoms of scabies develop, itching is the most common symptom of scabies. The itch of scabies is insidious and relentless. The itch is typically worse at night. For the first weeks, the itch is subtle. It then gradually becomes more intense until, after a month or two, sleep almost becomes impossible The mites are very active at night so the itching is worse at night.

Yes very true I first noticed small rashes but never itched at all , I would just rub off the rashes like it was acne but then weeks later the itching got really intesnse so I contacted a doctor for an appointment and he knew immediately it was a scabies infection and gave me the pesticide kwelleda p cream to take home and put on overnight.

Scabies is highly contagious and therefore easily contracted by personal contact. My brains are just not able to think at all due to the itching which is severe at night. My treatment is on.

You can be extra careful with the bedding , i've been wondering about the night thing too. The thing that no one seemed to adress is that the itching is not from the mites but an allergic reaction to their feces. So why would it only get itchy in the evening, when the feces are presumably there all the time?

Yeah the itching is very intense during the night as you sleep it seems they migrate from bedding onto skin. The mites are too small to feel them

May be there is another fact which I read in one of the articles on the net is that the body becomes warm at night, when the body has become warm from exertion or from an overheated room or the wearing of excessive clothing.

Well Duh... Scabies loves moisture, heat and the night time, this is when scabies are most active. The first thing you should be doing is educating yourself on how the scabies mite ceases to exist, study the mites cycle and from there you can ultimately go to war against them with a huge advantage...

Active scabies will itch more during the evening and will be more intense, but post scabies can itch more during the daytime or when your sweating but can also itch at night just not as intense and the crawling fluttering type itches.

Tell Tale sign of scabies once they are into a cycle. They are active during the evening hours tunneling, mating and eating your skin. Scabies makes you skin itch because you are allergic to the scabies mites feacal matter and the dead mites themselves as they die and mate. Though they say you can not actually feel the scabies mites moving themselves because they are too small, this is untrue as you can feel the fluttering characteristic during the evening hours which would be different from the daytime allergic reaction itching. Classic sign of active scabies where in post scabies you would just have the allergic reaction itch.
