Mites are little arthropods which are commonly related to chiggers or ticks. For the most part, mites would never come into direct contact with human beings, however once these mites infest human beings, they can cause a lot of health problems. A majority of mite bites would cause intense itching and skin irritation. Some of the most common bites that affect human beings are featured below.

Bird Mites

A majority of bird mites are normally seen feeding on domestic fowl and some of these wild bird mites would bite on the humans only if their hosts die or have left the nest. These mite bites are accompanied by itchy rash along with a tiny, clear blister. It has been observed that bird mites do not reside on the human beings for a longer period of time.

Grain Mites

Grain mites would mostly bite people who handle grains, dry fruits or hay. Such mites are found in mouldy or damp areas. Such mites are known to cause irritation, rash and may also lead to respiratory problems in human beings.

Rodent Mites

There are two major kinds of rodent mites that commonly bite human beings – there are house mouse mites as well as the tropical rat mites. The house mite bite would lead to an itchy rash whereas the bite from the tropical rat is pretty painful, leading to extreme skin irritation. In order to deal with these mites, it becomes important to recognise them, so as to get appropriate treatments. Approach a doctor as soon as you experience extreme itching or rash on the surface of your skin.
