It is possible to precisely diagnose scabies in areas where there are a number of infestations reported, when lesions on two spots of the body meet severe itching, or when another person in the house is also itching at the same time. Proof is not in the pudding in this case, but proof is in the skin. Mites burrow under the top layer of skin and lay eggs. If you rub pen ink on the area, or a topical solution containing tetracycline, you'll discover the problem, because both of these substances will illuminate when put under a special kind of light. After this illuminating study, an alcohol swab is used to wipe away at the infection. If scabies are indeed the case, the S-shaped welt will show up on the infected person's skin. Scratch marks from the victim can make it hard to spot these welts, or burrows.

It might be easier in the diagnosis the scabies infection just by looking for the culprits. Looking for the mites and/or their eggs and fecal matter. This means scraping the problem area and putting the scrapings in potassium hydroxide and looking at the mixture from under a microscoope. Of course, you could also just use a dermoscopy device to look at the skin directly.

Obviously it would be far easier to prevent infestation than to go through the hassle of diagnosing and treating scabies infection. Permethrin and Ivermectin are two topical solutions that can be used to cut down on scabies situations in a number of neighborhoods. You can't, however, go down to your local pharmacy to get vaccinated, because there is no known cure. If symptoms appear, it is best to treat everyone who have, or can potentially come into contact with each other. Unless there is a case of crusted scabies, there is really no reason to clean out the living environment of the infected people. It won't help.

There are several medications that are used successfully to treat scabies, but this treatment has to include everyone in the house that is affected, or a reoccurrence of scabies is nearly inevitable. The itching can be fought off using antihistamines. Corticosteroids will lessen the symptomatic problems, especially if only used for a short duration, as part of a larger treatment. Crusted scabies have four documented cases using steroids for a longer period of time. This was shown to weaken the immune system of the hosts so it is not such a good idea except in extreme cases.

You should be using real scabies treatments that work so you are not constantly treating yourself over and over. Kill your scabies using 100% effective treatments, Visit http://www.ScabiesReview.com for Scabies Reviews.
