Happily Cured

My entire family had scabies because my dad had been in the hospital for cancer, and he caught it there. It essentially just slowly spread to everyone else. My father eventually passed away, but we still needed to get rid of the scabies. Brick wall Basically, we went to the doctors a few times after a few failed attempts with Permethrin, until I finally discovered from different forums that we needed to do more than just wash clothes, sheets, and put on Permethrin.

First off, we put Permethrin on more than once. Put it on one night, wash it off the next day, then put it on that night, and so on.. And then skip a while, and use it one last time.

I vacuumed absolutely everywhere as well (carpets, floors, couches, mattresses, etc). All sheets & clothes were washed with HOT water, and any that weren't were put into black trash bags, sealed tight, and left in another room. I'm pretty sure you only really need to leave them for about two weeks, but I left them for a month or two because I was just sick of the itching.

We washed all the pets too. I vacuumed by computer chair and put a towel on it as a small barrier.

Basically, just keep using the cream/medicine (definately more than once), wash and vacuum EVERYTHING, wash all pets, pack things up.. Just be careful with everything.

I've been scabies free for well over a year. :)

This is great to hear and very inspiring for people who are having a hard time getting rid of scabies. The key is really breaking up the scabies mite cycle, some people have success treating with permethrin and others don't. I would first look at treating scabies usuing natural treatments and if those fail I would then turn to permethrin as permethrin can cause other skin defects. Congradulations on getting cured of your scabies and moving on with your life.

Thank you for your post. So many failure stories can get depressing but I guess people tend to focus on the bad when it comes to posting. Did you use rubber gloves to do your laundry?

I never used rubber gloves but I did make sure I used those lysol wipes on surfaces and door handles etc. To get over my scabies I used sulfur creams and soaps and they killed the scabies very quickly. After that it was all about making sure I killed them all in my environment to avoid reinfestation, so far it is going well as I am cleaning every inch of my household twice a day! Here is where I got them:

Scabies Soaps and Creams

I would suggest you get the family pack witch comes with everything to kill scabies on your skin and in your house as well! There is also a coupon to get 10% off which I beleive is 10OFF you can use at the cart.

Hope this helps!
