It seems the medical information on mites and scabies is really old and outdated, the creatures have seemed to evolve and be able to resist certain treatments. There should really be some new advances in curing scabies and other mites.

I have been told and read everywehre on the net that because of the acid level in our faces skin scabies do not like to live there, they would rather hangout in folds in skin.

What are your experiences with this? Have you had burrows or other symptoms on the face? Do you treat your face and scalp with permethrin too if you had it for awhile or feel you have scabies on your face?

Has anyone been cured without treating your face and scalp?

It doesn't happen in most cases but yes they can get on your face, even in your ears , nose, and eyes. It really depends on how long you had the scabies prior to being diagnosed. Scabies are cycles, they breed constantly, a normal scabies infestation has about 8-12 mites. Though a person highly affected could have thousands of them , usually at this point your skin becomes crusty and is known as Norwegian Scabies.

God I found a burrow on my face!! Also when you scratch you detach mites and its under your finger nails and if you scratch your head or face on accident the goes the mites in that area.. Basically you helped the scabies transfer to new area.. This is why you want to clean your nails all the time everyday..You should be extremely clean with your nails.

The mites don’t care if it is your face or scalp, they go there too. I know they go to your scalp too.. Think about it when there is skin they will go there.. Mites dont care as long as its skin.. It’snow an old thinking that the mites do not enter the face or scalp if it is oily.

Just to be more careful with you skin and hair , Ensure your pillows are cleaned in hot, hot water and cover them with vinyl covers, and wash your pillow cases every day in hot water. In my case I have also notices that I have seen the burrows in one particular area on my face,Even being so very careful they are not there for some weeks on my skin and then they come back once again.Maybe after all I also need advice,I hope the small steps that I have mentioned will help you see some changes

Spraying of Benzyl Benzoate/alcohol on areas of my scalp where I feel activity does help .It's hard to put permethrin cream on scalp, though, because of the hair. I put permethrin on my face and around my hairline and ears and on my forehead, too.

I just feel the first thing that if you are not having scabies you should not be on this forum but I can also see that you are very interested in knowing the nature of scabies,so it’s better if you know that scabies is very contagious ,it spreads from someone who has been diagonised.

I had been infected with scabies but it’s almost over now, I still freak when I see anything on me. The bumps are getting fewer and further between. Still only get the crawly, tingly feeling on the back of my neck....but not as often.

The worst are the scars, The scars suck. I spend enough money on scabies......now I'm spending a small fortune on different scar remedies. You need to be extra careful with the face and the scalp also.

Here is a good read on finding scabies and treatment for them, typically scabies will not live on your head as they like warm places on the skin thats covered, unless your scabies has progressed, then you should try natural treatment.

Good Luck!

Yeah you can get scabies on your face and scalp! They are driven into your ears and stuff too wherever the warmer areas are, though they are easy to kill off your face or scalp just use like a 1% permethrin for lice every night, or use tea tree oil maybe or noxxemma. That should make them not want to live on your face.

I recall using 1% permethrin for lice to put on my head for 3days in a row and it got rid of the lingering scabies that were in my scalp, typically they dont tend to live on the scalp but this does not mean it cant happen as it can.

I had scabies near my ears and hairline, I was likely getting reinfected from my bedding, once I started making a cream that consisted of 5 drops of tea tree oil and 1/4 cup of moisuturizer and put on my scalp and face before bed, this was enough to prevent the scabies from living on those areas, likely it did not kill them but made them relocate.

Scabies do not normally like living on the scalp or face but they certainly can live there. I would suggest getting some skin tone clearasil which contains restinol 2% and 8% sulfur, this would make an ideal spot treatment for the face area and even ears and nostrel area. This should help you fight the scabies on your face. For your scalp you can buy some head and shoulders 2 in 1 and leave on your scalp for a few hours each day, this will make them not live there, you can also make a tea tree oil shampoo for your scalp.

If your experiencing scabies on your face and scalp you have a more complex scabies case and I would suggest taking alook at this thread in which you can get some sulphur products which 100% kill scabies and you can use them on your face and scalp, the bars of soap they have are sulphur soaps and these will help alot.

This should help!

That is patently UNTRUE. I am manic about cleanliness and have always been that way. My fiance thinks I'm nuts. I contracted these nasty little mites while caring for my mother who was very ill with cancer. I was in several hospitals and physicians offices. Thankfully my mother never contracted them, probably because exam areas are kept much cleaner than waiting rooms.

I'm in my 9th month of this nightmare and yes I have them in my scalp and they were in my left ear. I'm almost rid of them. Just took Ivermectin (Stromectol) last week and am still treating with Perm. that I mixed at home.

I never wear anything twice, wash my sheets and blankets daily, and all laundry is done in hot water with borax added.

I spray 10% Permetherin everywhere, being careful to keep cats away until it is completely dry as it is lethal to kitties.

This is a huge nightmare! My hair has even started to break off due to the drying effects of the permetherin and I guess the itching.

BUT contracting these demon-mites has absolutely nothing to do with cleanliness, or lack thereof!

I also had scabies on my scalp and ear area, I tried even using permethrin on my scalp and this did not work. The only thing that worked was the sulfur you guys suggested, and I must say I am really thankful, it has been sometime time since I was scabies free and I didnt want to jinx it. But I must say that it did work and I am now confident that I do not have scabies at all. If you have scabies you definetely want to use this instead of kwelleda p or Lindane. Here is the forum:

http://scabieshelpnow.com/helpforum/yaf_postst440_Dermisil-Topical-Cream.aspx

By the way they also have bars of soap which work really well and last a long time. I got sulfur soaps from walmart before and each bar would only last a couple days, these bars last weeks and kill scabies while healing your skin.

Great Stuff...

You can use sulfur creams and soaps which are safe above the neck up, this is why they are recommended for some scabies patients because they are 100% effective and can be used on the face and scalp!

Guest
#24 Posted : Saturday, June 18, 2011 2:41:12 PM Quote

Yeah I had scabies on my scalp and ears, so they definetly can grow above your neck. I am pretty sure that's just the directions for the kwelleda p as it is very dangerous and shouldn't be applied above your neck. I have no clue why they would suggest they cant grow above your neck because scabies certainly can grow above the neckline.

ive been having scabies for about six months now and where on my face i recently started using mexican medicine and even took a shot wth a medicine that was inserted with a seringe and has killed the mites from the inside out

Well sulfur creams are usually used by mexicans and african americans who have really bad skin problems which is from their genes, thesse products work very well, sulfur is a 100% effective treatment for scabies and is recommended because you can use it above the neck up unlike other treatments.

Scabies definitely infest the face and scalp. We could feel them in our noses and on our eyelids. We are cured now, though, after very long go-arounds with the doctors. Please read the articles at the following links if you think you might have scabies but are unsure, or if you have treated yourself for scabies but are not sure the treatment worked. Best wishes.

The only thing that is going to help you treat scabies full body including the neck, face and scalp is going to be sulfur treatments and sulfur soaps. I would suggest you start by getting a scabies starter pack which will kill both scabies and their eggs on your whole body. It will save you months of suffering!

Scabies Starter Pack

It comes with both sulfur soaps and scabies creams which will help you kill scabies on your entire body including scalp and face!

Best of luck!
