d'oh! d'oh! so about 3 months ago i broke out in a rash (groin, underarms, under both breasts, and stomach). the doctor diagnosed contact dermatitis and prescribed a steroidal cream (betnovate). it completely went away. Then i get a similar rash about 2 weeks ago, this time more severe. Same symptoms, same appearance, but more irritating and larger areas. The rash has already started to go away and itching is less intense, but went back to the dr to get a refill on the cream and was diagnosed with scabies. I'm a little skeptical to start the treatment that the dr prescribed. For one it is expensive and not covered by my insurance. Second I've been in very close contact with my husband and 3 daughters ( age 9 months, 4 years and 6 years..have even shared a bed with them) and they all have not shown signs of this rash, which makes me question as to whether this is really scabies. So basically I'm wondering is it normal for scabies to go away without treatment and then come back 3 months later? I will definately start the treatment right away if this is a case of scabies, since i don't want to put my family at risk. But i just want to have more reassurance since I am breastfeeding and i know treatment will effect that. please help!!

When I realized something was wrong with my skin the doctor told me I had exzeema and sent me home with some creams and thanks to him he misdiagnosed me on many occasions and it took me longer to get rid of the scabies, so if you think it's scabies (ie horrible itching, lessions on finger webbing or skin folds) you should mention you think it is that or they will just rush you out quickly with some cream for dry skin. Scabies also makes your skin scaley in the areas it affects or they are living in.
