Scabies are caused by an invisible parasite known as sarcoptes scabiei. In English it has simply come to be called an itch mite. The condition of scabies is on the outer skin surface. The spread of this type of infection is through skin to skin contact. In the symptoms; one of the key diagnostic indicators is observed in the persistent scratching by the patient. The itching comes as an effect of the parasite laying eggs on the skin surface. As the victim continues scratching more bacteria will come in and cause more infections.

The other unique symptom that is associated with scabies is symmetrical burrowing. The burrows caused by this parasite can be arranged in a straight line; or in an s shape. This symptom has been marred by interesting speculation. Additionally, some of the most common symptoms generally include the following:

-An itchy and irritating skin rash

-Burrowing of the skin’s outer layer especially in a linear manner

-Intense itching when in contact with warm water

-Bumps around the skin which form the key itchy spots

The above symptoms are not the main determining factor which can signify the presence of this problem. A physician must be able to diagnose the problem competently and conclusively. This involves taking a sample from the infected area and examining it under microscope for the eggs or the bacteria. In addition, it should be remembered that; there are other skin conditions that can be similar to the way humans react to scabies. But if you have major night time itching which prevents lack of sleep it is likely you have scabies.

The symptoms of scabies do not appear on the same day after infection. Sometimes, an individual can be infected and a full month elapses before the symptoms come to the fore. In general, physicians have observed that it can take between two to six weeks before the symptoms can become manifest. But once the symptoms have been spotted; the persistent struggle with these symptoms begins. Even the treatment methods are naturally tailored to the symptoms. This is because; it is a condition that attacks the surface of the skin.

When a person has once been infected and that problem is no longer with them; there is no guarantee that they will not be re-infected. Actually such people are even more susceptible to this problem than those who may be getting infected for the first time. Such people can see the symptoms even within twenty four hours after infection. But many other researchers have still argued that the re-infection can bring the symptoms forward within one to three days. Whatever the case, these symptoms can be handled as soon as they start becoming more evident.

The other fact about the way symptoms of scabies come out is in the areas of infection. It has been observed that the bumps on the skin-or even burrows-can appear on any part of the body. But the most common are the arm folds, the buttocks, the area between the fingers and many other areas similar to these.
