My question is since I now know that the scabies can be living in my mattress on the dead skin for months is it just ideal to throw out my mattress or should I just be sealing it and leaving it for awhile or buying those wraps for the mattress? What would you guys suggest I should do as I was just diagnosed with scabies recently and I am living in a dorm room.

Greatly appreciated

I guess it depends if you are financially off I would just get rid of the mattress and get a new one. But do not fear if you have to seal your mattress with covers as that also works just dont sleep on it even covered for 2-3 days and it will suffocate everything in the mattress. Either or will work.

You could just quarantine you mattress for a few weeks or month to ensure you are not getting reinfected from your mattress, you could probably even steam clean it as that will likely kill any scabies within it. Or you could also get some kind of plastic cover which would suffocate them. I beleive they sell these covers for bed bugs typically but I would think it would be just as effective against scabies.

Worth a shot!

You can also just get scabies mattress covers which will save you from throwing away mattresses. I got mine online within a few days here is the site:

Good luck I know how frustrating dealing with scabies can be!
