Just got diagnosed yesterday.
I remembered from growing up, Tiger Balm (I'm Chinese) was really effective in helping me not itch mosquito bites. I've found that it is also really effective for soothing scabies. The camphor in it just cools the entire area and I don't feel itchy. This is not a cure, but a way to prevent scratching.
I bought extra strength Tiger Balm at Target (behind pharmacy counter) which has 11% camphor. You smell like a Chinese grandma, but you won't itch so much. I'm in California, so I don't know if all Targets has Tiger Balm. I know you can get it online.
