Hello everyone!
I was hoping you all could help me determine if what I am now experiencing is Post Scabies or a re-infestation.
I started itching about four weeks ago, but because I was in college and was coming home for the holidays soon I didn't think much of it and just pushed it to the side. I came home and my mother thought it could be scabies so she sent me to my doctor. No test were done but becauseI had some clusters on my hands my doctor prescribed me one dose of perm. 5%. I did that last Friday night. The next two days were misery. I have never itched so much in my life, and were accompanied by numerous water blisters on my hands. but this past week I haven't itched much at all, no new bumps surfaced. Until today that is, I got several bumps in several spots on my body. Such as a bump on one of my toes on both feet, one on my wrist, two or so on my leg. They do itch. I've been washing my bedding daily, as well as my clothes, I vacuumed my mattress and car, bagged my shoes that were not sandals. So what I would like to know is if this is still post scabies, if this is just my body getting rid of the extra mites. It's called the seven year itch for a reason, and I'm well aware of that. I just do not want to be over reacting and get another dose of medicine if I dont really need it. You hear about these people who reapply four or five times, when really it could just be their body reacting to the dead mites. I'm not sure of where to go from here. The prescription had a high ratio of people being cured with one application, which made me feel good. And then I did research on the internet and saw all these stories of people dealing with this for years.

Look out for clusters or groupings of rashes and the active night time itching which is associated with scabies because they are more active at night. Keep in mind the dead mites and the treatments themselves cause your skin to become really dry so those water type blisters are associated with post scabies conditions and if you poke a hole in them they will dry up and go away within 12 hours. Just be on alarm for the active scabies signs and keep on moisturiring your skin so it can begin repairing itself.
