Scabies is a contagious disorder of the skin caused by very small, wingless insects or mites called the Human Itch mite or Scabies itch mite. The female insect burrows into the skin and lays her eggs. A very small, zigzag blister usually marks her trail as she lays her eggs. Itching is intense, especially at night. A red rash often develops after the area is scratched.
The most common locations for scabies are on the sides of fingers, between the fingers, on the backs of the hands, on the wrists, heels, elbows, armpits, inner thighs and around the waist (belt line). One female mite continues to lay eggs for about five weeks. The eggs hatch and the new mites begin the cycle all over again.

That sounds like a condition that is related to post scabies. Have you treated already with permethrin for scabies, if that is the case it sounds like you are likely in post scabies. I would wait 2-3 weeks and monitor your condition, if you have intense itching during the late evening throughout the night it is likely you were reinfested with scabies or never got rid of the initial scabies infestation. Keep in mind if you were infected with scabies for more than a month it mite be a little more resistant to the permethrin treatments because your skin is so thich.

Post scabies and scabies have very similar traits, and it especially hard to know which one you have if your using stuff like claritan or benadryl. I would suggest 2 weeks after treatment to stop using those anti itch pills to see if you still have scabies.

Scabies has itching that is very intense, post scabies has itching still witch slowly fades away and is less severe, you can lounge around with post scabies itchiness, scabies itchiness drives you nuts. The post scabies itching comes from your skin healing from all the punishement it has taken. It can take up to a couple money or a couple years to get rid of all the scabies symptoms.

You can also do the ink test by applying ink to your skin on or around the places you think you have scabies, then wait like 4 minutes then whip it off, if you then see ink undernearth the skin it is likely you have scabies still.
