Some important doubts I need to clarify regarding scabies and the cure used for it.Does scabies of the scabies eggs have an lifespan. Can the eggs actually survive without human contact.if i just threw all of my clothes into my closet, and didn't touch for a few day will that work?I am also aware that a side affect of premethrin is itchiness, but how long is that suppost to last? I used premethrin 5 last friday, and i'm still itchy. Is the itchyness still supposed to be there after the infection is gone.
And lastly I would also need advices on how to prevent scabies once I am perfectly cured.

Oh and just one more question is premethrin safe to use on your face? I was told by my doctor not to,but I have read some people on this forum advising it.

Hi Edeline,
My dermatologist has mentioned that itchyness is normal and also use Permethrin 5% on my face and scalp without any problems. Along with this I was also asked to add Ivermectin to my treatment schedule . I've been been extra cautious and keep the clothes separately in the plastic bags.

Also some more points to consider with the clothes. Making sure clothes get bone dry seems to be critical. I've been drying things for at least an hour with my dryer avoiding overloading the dryer. Ironing also helps to get the perfect clean feel for your clothes, You really need to be extra careful when you are handling scabies.

The reasoning for the airtight bags is good ,since they are very active creatures. The mites can still survive inside the plastic bags for a few weeks. Plan on them surviving for 3 weeks off a host, just to be on the safe side.

If the mites are scratched off they may hatch in 3-5 days depending on when they were laid. It's unlikely eggs are off a host since they are laid in burrows in the skin.

The caught these mighty creatures long time back and didn’t know what had actually hit me. Scratching just make the situation worse ...I was using my hairbrush to scratch myself real good and I had them everywhere. I was very very careful with my bedding and all...basically everything. I had got rid of this somehow at that time and once again I seem to have this I please need advice on this

Unfortunately scabies is very very difficult to cure.. see a dermatologist and get prescriptions for as many treatments of Permethrin 5% .If you have any pets they need to be treated too. close contacts live-ins? All the things need to be rechecked in your house. You can also look into other forums for the treatments and cures.

Just place all your bedding and clothing into the dryer for a couple hours on hot, then you can bag them and any items up in air sealed bags to kill them off or keep yourslef from getting them again. Before you treat you should spend 24 hours cleaning your household and bagging up most everything in your home, then treat for 14-16 hours , then once again the next day continue to clean your home with bleach and bag up any items around your home. This should help you beat scabies and not get reinfected later on as well. Scabies is actually pretty hard to beat if your not taking the correct precautions.
Good Luck;
Mary
