How long can scabies live in my environment, I mean once they are off of me how long can they survive in my household? Do you think I should stay at a hotel for like a week and then come back just to be safe ?

Scabies can only live like 3-5 days off the host in most conditions, unless it is real damp and humid as they can live a bit longer If I remember correctly. If you have money to stay somewhere else that would be great, if not just make sure you do alot of cleaning with bleach and change the areas of where you dwell and sleep. And make sure you place things in sealed containers and even get a bed covering.

5 Days would be a safe ammount of time where they could not live off a host, though I think with mattresses it could be longer because your skin particles build up within the mattress over years and they could probably feed off the skin maybe and stay alive a bit longer. This is just my thoughts on it after reading around, and scabies can also live longer in damp or hot conditions as they thrive more.

3-5 days is what they say, this is why they want to to treat 5-7 days apart to break the scabies life cycle. I have heard them going dormant though and living for weeks in the rite temperatures.

Scabies infestation will live as long as you let them live on your skin. Though they are referred to as "The 7 year itch" I am not exactly sure of the exact life span of one single scabies mite.
