How would you determine if you were reinfested with scabies after two treatments, I mean I am using anthihistamines so it takes away the itch which was how I knew I had them, and according to other posts post scabies comes with lessions and bumps as well. So how would someone determine if they have scabies again or it is just post scabies conditions and allergies.
Thanks

Well you dont want to treat right away anywys the most is like once every 7 days then you wait like a month and then stop using the allergy drugs so you can determine whether you are still itching intensly at night. then you should have more of a feeling where your at...

I'm in the same situation. I've used two permethrin treatments, tried toothpaste cause I was scared of reinfection(I have no idea if that works, at least it may suffocate them) and I've been eating garlic and rubbing fresh cut onion on lessions. Also boiled onion skins and applied afterbirth. Idk if any of it is working, I still itch a little. It's subsided greatly, if not eradication. Bad thing is I think family members may have it. Been washing cloths regularlyish and taking very hot showers trying to burn them. Then shifting to very cold in attempt to shock their system. It's been 4 weeks since last permethrin and I think the amount of intense scratching sessions has dropped by like 80%. I believe I may have another session from dead bodies still in lessions. I hope they're dead anyway. Yeah.

Toothpaste will not work. I have heard people in old times using motor oil as it suffocates the mites but this is probably pretty messy and not guaranteed. Eating garlic and oinions will help boost your immune system as they contain allicin which is a great antibacterial and antifungal but will not alone kill scabies. The hot and cold showering will also not kill scabies and likely having lots of hot showers will only help them progress and move around to different areas. Try using sulphur treatments and soap they have been used for scabies successfully for decades. Here is a site below you can buy sulfur bars of soap and creams to kill scabies the easy way. Thank you for the information Marie. Yeah I've considered all of what you said, it's just I have limited resources and funds. Can I get sulfur soap from a grocery store?

This is very common! People tend to not know if their still infected because they are using products such as Claratin to mask the symptoms and signs. My advice would be to continue to use those products until 2-3 weeks after treatment and then completely stop using the allergy products for a week and see how you feel, by this time you should know whether you have a scabies itch which would be more intense during the evening. And always be on the lookout for new sets of lessions as they will typically show up in groupings.

All I know is scabies can be a very large pain in the ass if you dont deal with it accordingly, I am a very clean person and was reinfested numerous times. I would suggest cleaning with bleach products like 2-3 times a day and constantly keep your clothing and bedding in the dryer before using. My hands and feet were the most common places of reinfestation so I figure it was from handling objects around my house, once I started reducing items laying around that I would touch daily it started to help. Make sure you bag anything laying around you use on a daily basis because this could be the reason your getting reinfected with scabies.

You will know because of the active itching at night which is not characteristicly like normal itching. Some people describe scabies itching as pin prick type itching or constant itching with a warm feeling in the sorrounding area!

For sure the itching at night is a sign of active scabies and loss of sleep also. If it is your first time with scabies you will evnetually notice wide spread of rash that itches lots, usually on webbing of fingers or places with folds of skin is the best place to look for scabies.

The best bet with scabies is to continue to spot treat after your treatment during the day time using sulfur creams on places that either itch or show signs of active areas or lesions. In other areas lightly apply cocoa butter to the skin. It also helps to shower with soaps containing sulfur to help prevent scabies reinfection and sulfur is also great for the skin.

I think the proglem lies with most people simply not applying the creams full body applications and the scabies likely move onto areas they didnt apply the cream. Or they are not cleaning their household and catching it again from items in their home.
