I am really worried , it has been 3 weeks sinse treating with permethrin twice 7days apart and it seems I am still itchy and getting new raised bumps. How the hell can I tell if this is post scabies or scabies still? This is really draining me and taking toll on my life. Please give me some information to figure this out.
Thanks

Tyically you can not tell from the bumps and skin patches as the permethrin and left over mites will cause your skin to be itchy and allergic which will produce bumps and skin problems. The one thing that seperates post scabies from actual scabies is the pin type itches that are intense like biting. This is a tell sign that you have scabies and not post scabies, if the itches are just dry skin itche your likely in post scabies and should just pamper your skin and take Benadryl to calm yourself.
Wish you luck

Yeah I never felt itching for 4days after the treatment and know feel itchy again and am getting raised bumps. Wondering if this is normal and secondary infection or the skin just reacting to the treatment and stuff in the skin?
The treatment alone will make it feel like active scabies over the first 3-4 weeks depending how sensitive your skin is and how fast you were diagnosed. For a case of scabies diagnosed quickly you should notice the itching decrease over about 3 weeks following treatment. The itching may last until your skin excretes the materials from beneath its surface. After 4 weeks if you still feel pin prick bites then you should apply another treatment or consult your doctor for a post visit to ensure you are in post scabies.

Sounds very typical with post scabies, even when i had gotten rid of them i felt as though i still had them for 2 weeks, then they went away. I guess it really depends on how sensitive your skin is.

Try using the Naturasil, this stuff does the trick within a few days! The problem with scabies is you will continue to itch until you use something like Naturasil which will strip your skin down to its first layer, your skin is itching because it is allergic to the mites and their debris which is still under your skin. You can loofah and wash all you want but its gonna take months to years to surface all that junk. I highly suggest you guys get the Naturasil exfoliator and make your life easy again!~ Get Naturasil creams for post Scabies

Yeah I would suggest getting that exfoliator stuff! I had scabies and was misdiagnosed for 5 months for exzemma and it took me like 2 months to get rid of them, and it took like a year for the post scabies to go away until I used that exfoliater cream. The thing is with scabies you will itch in post scabies like you would in scabies, this is why people think they are not getting cured. Save yourself the headaches and itching by getting that cream and your problems will all go away quickly.

i had scabies for months, it took me about 4 full treatments to get rid of them, and before i went to bed i would put on a little extra Nix or whatever in any spot that especially itched. if the itching ever returned a week after doing a treatment i knew it had not worked. you can really tell if the mites are active or not if you get little clear-ish bumps coming up on your hands or feet. for me they appeared especially around finger joints and the sides of my hands. i also took very very hot strong showers 2 times a day, and changed the blankets and clothes i used very frequently. its good to set up quarantine bags for things where they can sit for at least 2 days before using them again. after doing a treatment, my skin would become more irritated for about a day or two, and i would get lots of redness like a rash. i used simple vitamin e cream when i got up and when i went to bed, always after shower, and this seemed to help make the redness go away faster and stopped the itching. my advice is to really treat this as seriously as you can as soon as you notice it, otherwise it can get out of control.

I think about a week or so after your finally cured you will begin to notice no new lessions and the previous lessions will start to flatten out. From my experience in post scabies I noticed my fingers would get water blisters which was a huge concern for me as I didnt want to become reinfected once again, it turns out that these water blisters are just signs of dryness and abuse from the treatment and dry skin. From my observations the blisters once popped dry and go aways completely within a day or so.

How can you relieve the itching until you go to the hospital is there any way possible
Try having 45minute baths during the morning and evening with either one cup of epsom salts or one cup of baking soda. This will help termporarily releive the scabies itching, you should also look into getting some sulfur soap. One thing to remember is that scabies themselves do not cause the itching it is the mites and their fecael matter underneath the skin that is causing your skin to be allergic.
Hope this helps

I found epsom salts mixed with a couple drops of lavendar oil helps releive the itch in post scabies, it has been helping me get some sleep during the last few weeks. I take a bath just prior to going to sleep for roughly 35 minutes. I have also heard you can use baking soda as it works really well too.

I used Spregal as treatment, and since that , i take a shower once in the morning and once at night, it passed 22 days , i still have itching and a little pin from time to time but it is not like before and i can sleep well at night , my question is : am i cured or no ???do i have to wait more time?if yes , how much? do i repeat my treatment?
Likely not as I have never heard of that for a scabies treatment. You need to get yourself some sulfur soaps and creams as they are 100% effective in killing scabies. There is lots of information about these scabies treatments on this forum including banners to buy the real sulfur soap.
Hope this helps

Yeah the post scabies bumps and lesions and even itching can continue long after scabies treatment as the stuff is still all under your skin. That is why it is important to keep on using the sulfur soaps after so they take layers off your skin until your at the original layer and all the stuff surfaces from under the skin.

Well scabies is referred to as "The 7 year itch" because the longer you have it the longer it will take to treat and the longer post scabies will last. Your best bet to kill scabies quickly is to use sulfur soap, here is the website where you can buy sulfur soap and creams and also scabies microscopes for like 15$. You will need these as they are 100% effective in killing the scabies mite. Buy Scabies Sulphur Creams and MicroscopesThis should help! Cindy

I had the same problem but it was due the area the scabies were living and leaavnig their fecal matter, basically it lead to some kind of infection on one area of my skin but the sulfur creams and soaps quickly got rid of it. It also seems scabies builds layers of skin upon areas they live to protect them and their eggs, I think in more sever cases they actually burrow farther into the skin and after some reading that is called nodule scabies! I never had nodular scabies but I did get reinfested once, my advice is to take it very seriously especially the treatments and the cleaning your environment so you can end the scabies cycle!
Hope this helps!

Sulfur definetely aids in the help of killing the scabies and quickly healing leassion and bumps, when I had scabies I was getting bumps on my shoulder blades in areas they lived in, the sulfur helped heal those lessions and kill any scabes in those areas, in those areas the skin was built up and really scaley. Neever try to break these wounds simply let them heal on their own or it will lead to more infection and it will take longer for them to heal. Just leave them alone!

i had scabies, i did treatment, and it didnt work i did it again two months later when the doctor finally confirmed thats what it was, now i did treatment again and the itching has decresed so much over the week since the last treatment, but now i am feeling a little pin prick every once in a while but no new bumps or tunnels what should i do??

Try using sulfur treatments as they are natural and effective. Keep in mind though that treatments will often trigger itchiness afterwards, but if you have the pin prick type itchiness that is worse during the evening hours it is likely you still have active scabies. I have had scabies for about 2 months.....was diagnosed about a month ago. At first I thought I was just having an allergic reaction to my new detergent so I didn't go to the doctor right away. When I finally did, he prescribed 5% permethrin. I broke out really bad after the first treatment and itched like I've never itched in my life. I also treated everyone in my family and THOROUGHLY cleaned the environment. From steam cleaning, vaccuming and borax on the carpet to wiping down everything I touched the moment after I touched it and purchasing mattress pads! I treated myself again a week later and then we went on vacation for 5 days to let the house settle. Then came home and I was feeling like everything was gone, no new bites, a little itchy but things were going well. Then I woke up the night after we came home and everything felt like it was crawling. I treated everyone in the house again........then about a week later my son had to go to the hospital for surgery, I treated myself and my son one more time. Now mind you......no new bumps...just itchys after treatment that gets better after a few days. In the hospital, I learned that my sons physical therepist had scabies....I FREAKED! Came home, treated my son and I again....this time...bad reaction on my skin. Lot's of burning on my back and new rash....I'm guessing from over treatment. That was about 4 days ago. I now have a little cluster of bumps by my ankle....some are flattening and white....but some are not. They only itch if I itch at them....otherwise not so I am leaving them alone. But I'm freaking out here! Do you think there are new scabies.....I have literally done everything possible....including a 25% permethrin spray on all furniture and shoes and floors, daily....washed all the linnens. I really want to believe I'm post scabies...but these bumps are making me want to rub myslef down with another treatment and I dont think my back can take another treatment for a while. Also, I have no pin prick feelings....but I read that it isn't a bite that your feeling, just a momentary histamine reaction........so I dont even know if that's a valid thing to go by. Somebody help?

Not sure but I had the same problem with permethrin, after using it it made my lessions much worse and into bumps and my itching actually got worse. I was told to wait a week or so as this may be some conditions from the cream but i waited two weeks and it did not kill the scabies and the itching never went away. I finally killed scabies using sulfur 4 days overnight full body applications and using the sulfur soap in the shower as it has some kind of beads that exfoliate but the sulfur in the soap also kills any straggglers. I must say though prevention and cleaning is almost as important as the treatment itself as scabies spread pretty quickly and seem to be pretty resistant or burry good.

The sulfur treatments did get rid of my scabies and I did not itch anymore but the only problem now is my skin is kinda dry on areas such as my elbows and feet. I also made sure I got some sulfur soaps to prevent any chance of the scabies returning.

I know peopple keep saying use Naturasil. But I went to Sprouts (a natural/health food store with a very large natural drug department) and they did not have it. Vaseline lotion worked for me, becuase vaseline itself is very oily but the lotion is not. I recommend this, since you can find it in Target and Walmart, probably even the grocery store. My skin was completely thrashed after 2 treatments of Permethrin that didn't work, and this Vaseline brand lotion atleast helped moisturize my skin while I work on getting rid of my scabies.

I am in the same position as you. I never had the "traditional" rash, more nodular bumps. I treated with Premethian cream twice 7 days apart. I still have those bumps! They still itch (although not as severe) and drive me crazy. I went back to the dermatoligist and they felt they had to do a biopsy. I wil get the results in a few days and I will post! I also got new bites (belly button, hand) but they did not itch. Hang in there.......what choice do we have.

Yeah permetrhrin will make you even more itchy and in lots of cases it does not even work. while your waiting on a dermatologist I would suggest getting yourself some sulfur creams and soaps which will help you kill them!
Good luck!

This does tend to happen with scabies cases sometimes bumps can happen for weeks or even months afterwards as the skin is allergic to the dead mites and their fecal matter underneath the skin. Also your skin is super sensitive from all the scabies damage and the damage the treatment may have caused. I suggest using sulfur soaps and epsom salts in post scabies as it will help heal your skin and prevent post secondary infections also.

I think you should also try natural treatments for your problem. All you have to do take a warm bath by adding some drops of tea tree oil in your bathing water. This is really very effective treatment to get rid from Scabies.
Tea tree oil does not work for the treatment of scabies you can Google it and you will find not one case where tea tree oil worked. If you have scabies you have 3 treatment options which are permethrin, sulfur and Invermectin which is oral medication you need a prescription for.

my sister was diagnosed with Scabies that she apparently got from her god awful boyfriend. Our entire family including MY boyfriend rubbed ourselves down with the permethrin cream prescribed to us by the doctor as a "just in case". This was on 1/20/12. I was had developed itching a few days prior to this upon discovering my sis had scabies and thought maybe it was just paranoia. Im kind of a paranoid person. So the first 4 days of treatment i was fine. Afterwards, i was itching again and worse. So reluctantly lathered up with my poisoned permethrin again and this was about 7 days after my first treatment. First 3-4 days i was fine again. Then the itching. I used sulfur soap daily which seemed to work. I could sleep peacefully at night. Just an itch here or there during the day, a few slightly raised bumps. I just wanted to be done with all this. Its taking a toll on my life and while laying on the carpet, tired and depressed i got up with a slight burning itch. I had tiny red bumps all over the sides of my abdomen. They didnt itch unless i touched them. Showered with sulfur soap and soaked. Had to quickly rinse it off though because the bumps began to burn really bad. Showered for about a weeks straight with sulfur soap. Bumps went away in about two days. So its been over a month since my first treatment and im still experiencing itching here and there. Reinfested or just totally damagede skin? I have super sensitive skin as it is. Bathing with sulfur soap for weeks has left severe patches of reddened dry skin. But like i said itching on my arm and thigh. No visible irritations, no bumps, no burrows...wtf..im so sick of this nonsense. I feel like i'll never be free from this nightmare. Also, my bf, who is oblivious to the spreading of bacteria germs and SCABIES, doesnt complain of any itching and we sleep in the same bed every night. He lives with me.

It is great just to use sulfur soaps but to kill scabies you are going to have to use the creams or 2-3 nights overnight full body application depending on how bad a scabies case you have. Usually in most cases 2-3 nights full body treatments will completely kill the scabies life cycle. Perhaps in your case you did not do full body applications and some of the scabies or scabies eggs survived. But I do know if you are not seeing any new rashes or scabies burrows you are certainly making progress. Here are a few things I suggest you do: -Treat both you and your bf at the same time -Get scabies family pack which comes with creams, soaps and environment mitacide killer. -Use 3 full nights full body applications -Use the scabies sulfur soaps-Get Benzarid mitacide sprays to protect your home -Take epsom salt baths you can get the salts at pharmacies -place clothing and items into containers and avoid touching stuff you dont need to touch -Sleep in a different room or use a different bed Good luck!

You should also keep in mind in post scabies you may still see bumps and pimple type things show up. This is normal because your skin is still allergic to the scabies and their fecal matter under the skin which causes these skin reactions. But if you see groups of pin prick type rashes after treatment and nighttime itching this would be a sign that you are still infected with active scabies or picked it up again from something in your home or a family member. From what I read it seems lots of people fail to treat their whole family at the same time and likely are picking it up once again from family members. It is important to treat both everyone you come in direct contact with, everyone living with you and treat your household itself as scabies can live off the human body for up to 8 days and sometimes longer if they go dormant.

Post scabies can be annoying also as somedays you will feel fine and other days youll feel terrible as the itching still persists in some cases.

Myself and my husband have treated ourselves for scabies back in January. For some reason we are still itching, I don't know why but it seems to happen every Sunday, and my 10 year old boy (who we didn't treat as doctor wasn't 100% sure we had it) has just told us he feels itchy every Sunday. This problem is driving me and my husband mad. After reading some of the forums our itching isn't severe it is a bit like a pin prick and seems to happen more of an evening, I did have lots of little lumps (small spots) just under my chest and they have finally started to disappear, so I am wondering if we still have scabies of post scabies? I know lots of people have mentioned sulphur soaps and creams, but I don't know whether this would damage my skin long term as I have sensitive skin, as do my sons Can anyone help?

Sulfur soaps and creams are the best thing for post scabies and sulfur is known for it's healing properties and is even used for severe cases of acne. The way to tell post scabies from active scabies is too watch out for new rashes but the most obvious sign is the night time active itching which will feel like pin prick itching. It stands out from normal itching and also you may feel a warm kind weird feeling in your skin. Post scabies itching would just be your skin being allergic to the dead scabies and their fecal matter which would be normal feeling itching and can happen day or night.

I do think we have post scabies, as I often feel a warm slight burning sensation on my buttocks. Do you know if sulfur is suitable to use on children as I am worried about damaging their skin?

My family and I have been fighting scabies for almost 2 years. What I have to say about this is that Sulfur REALLY works. The down side is, the reinfestation from ones that you may have givin it to. My last treatment with the sulfur cream was about 4 weeks ago. I am still feeling itiching and some pin prick feelings, but I am hopefully that this is just the post symptoms. Originally when my family came into contact with this, they tried everything....permethrin didnt work, baths with essential oils didnt seem to help and the first sulfur cream we used didnt have the right percentage of sulfur. But finally talking to a pharmacist we learned how to mix the sulfur cream ourselves which saves a lot of money.
I think the leson that I am taking away from this is that we really need to stay positive. This is something that can totally ruin your life if you let it...it plays a physical and major mental toll on you. But once you have treated... you need to stay looking forward. Try not to talk about it with family members after treated, I have found that this makes it worse and makes you more paranoid. Go on living your life, even if you feel post symtoms... this is a normal part of scabies. Your body still has to shed all the dead skin.
Anyways, good luck to all. I know how hard this is. But through it all, I have really found that my only reflief is the Lord. There are reasons why we go through things and we can either gain something from it, or it can just be another frustrating situation.

The key with sulfur is the fact you can use it day after day so it is easier to get rid of scabies. It also worked for me but left my skin very dry, I am glad to see you are handling it very well and yes that is the best advice is not to get frustrated as your scabies heals you will feel better day by day just hang in there.

If you still have scabies you will know because the itching at night is unbearable and you will be scratching yourself while you sleep. Atleast this was the case when I had scabies and I knew I had them from the night time itching alone.
