Sulphur cream: how to dissolve sulphur powder Options · View

Hi,

I live in Australia where they don't sell any sulphur lotion, cream, soap, pomada etc (I've asked in many pharmacies and other stores).

Finally I've been able to find an online store (selling vet products), that sells 'food grade yellow sulphur powder' (they don't provide any further explanation on what type of sulphur this is). I got it in 2 days ago and have been mixing it up with various mixtures of aquous / sorbolene cream as well as with petroleum jelly. In both cases the powder doesn't really dissolve.

The cream takes on a nice yellow colour, however as soon as I rub it on my skin you can clearly feel the mixture is very gritty. And once it has dried on my skin I have unevenly spread sulphur 'grains' and small clumbs of sulphur all on top of my skin (which makes me wonder whether sulphur will do anything if it just sits on top of the skin and doesn't get absorbed neither is evenly spread)

How can I dissolve the sulphur when making my own cream? I've tried dissolving it in hot water, but to no effect. I've also tried adding (olive) oil but again no effect. The powder maintains its gritty structure.

Thx

You can just buy your sulfur in soap and lotion form from here: Scabies Sulfur and Creams

They ship to Australia and all over europe and they are made specifically for scabies.

Good Luck
