It could very well be, when I had scabies I had some areas where the lesions would get really big and they would be sore. I figure it was a combination of the skin being allergic to the dead scabies mites and the fact that you get a bunch of foliculitus problems in areas of scabies. Plus if you used permethrin to treat your not supposed to use it on lessions or open soares and I think that kinda makes the lession outbreaks worse in my experience.

I would give it some time and just apply sulfur creams to your lessions and monitor them over a week.
