So i was treated with permethrin twice, a week apart each time. it has now been about 4 and half weeks since the SECOND treatment.

initially after treatment my itching seemed to actually worsen a little, and my skin felt more sore, and also i got a few red bumps in areas where i itched, which i took as being post-scabies bumps. and i assumed the itching/soreness was post-scabies possibly combined with a reaction to the permethrin, as the doctor had said the itching could last a few weeks after treatment.

anyway by this point i STILL do not feel that the itching has 100-percent stopped, however it is definately nowhere near as bad as it was and it does seem to be getting less and less each day, and i havent had any more of the red-bumps for over a week now.

do i need another scabies treatment or am i clear?

My experience was one much the same as yours. After using permethrin with bad results this is what I found:

-The Permethrin definetly makes these things move more
-It made me feel sick
-I felt less itchy in terms the active itching kinda went away but returned 3 days later
-it made my lesions even worse and they hurt
-never cured my scabies I ended up curing mine with sulfur creams and soaps

Well if you want to determine whether you still have active scabies or post scabies you can tell by the itch, the evening itch which feel active or like a buzzing feeling, this is a sign of active scabies that you can tell from. Cause they say look for new burrows and track marks but thats nearly impossible to see unless you have a scabies pocket microscope.

By the way you can by the sulfur soaps and creams online, here is the link:

Hope this helps

P.S- You know your getting over scabies when day by day things continually improve and that buzzing itching is gone, you will still itch during the daytime but it will get better and better as this is just your skin being allergic to the dead mites and their debris!

If the permethrin did not work using it twice 7 days apart it is likely not going to work and your going to need to do a sulfur treatment as the lotion or cream your using is not killing the scabies eggs. Typically Nix and Kwelleda p creams are famous for this and the fact they barely give you enough to even apply to your entire body!

Post scabies can be very annoying depending on which treatment you take. The permethrin creams make you even more itchy then just having scabies for some reason, I had no luck with permethrin as it just made things worse. With post scabies you may notice your skin is allergic still to the dead mites and other stuff under your skin. this is why it is important to take post scabies just as seriously as scabies or you will think you have scabies for years because of the itching.
