Hello. I come to this forum, as I'm at my wits end, and don't know what to do anymore. My story starts in Oregon, where my older brother picked up scabies some how, and had it bad. Well he had it properly diagnosed, and had it treated, and he claimed he was cured. Sometime after I went to Oregon on an extended vacation, not expecting anything like scabies. Well early on in the trip, one of his friends started coming by frequently, and me and my younger sibling, who was visiting with me, noticed he was itching himself a lot. He started staying over to home issues, and me and the younger brother would notice he itched all night in his sleep, and even would fall asleep WITH his hand in his shirt, from scratching; I also noticed him using our couches arm rest to scratch himself, where I'd ask him to stop. Eventually I started getting itchy and eventually someone told me he was diagnosed with Scabies, and infected his house. As time went on, and I got increasingly itchier, I started suspecting he gave me it, so I went to the doctors. The doctor told me it most likely wasn't scabies as a) no rash; b) no burrows; and c) it does not go above the neck. He didn't diagnose me with anything then. I continued to scratch all over, my scalp, hairline, ears, inner thigh, my legs, and my shoulder, so we got a thing of permethrin cream for me (he told me I could get it if I felt the need, but he didn't prescribe it.) I cleaned my bedding area as best I could, showered, did laundry, and then applied it before bed. I had slightly noticable relief the next few days, but I ultimately stopped itching at the hairline, inner thigh, and leg. About a week and a half later I was incessantly itching again, different spots this time (spots that to this day keep showing up in itchy intervals.)
After a few months of itching, my family telling me I was full of it, etc; it was time to go home, but I didn't wanna possibly infect my friends and family at home, so I went to see the doctor once more, hoping for another bottle of permethrin, so I could take it, and not be reinfested in Vegas. He told me the usual out dated, and somewhat erroneous (based on lots of research online) tirade about rashes, can't go above the neck, and burrows; and this doctor wouldn't give me anything, citing it as merely dry skin. He told me some things to help fix said dry skin, and told me if it's not better in 2 weeks, see a dermatologist. Well I did everything he told me to do, with no relief, and after the 2 weeks of itching, I couldn't really afford to go see one. It's been about a month and a half now in Vegas, I still itch in noticable intervals, and it's driving me insane. Now the spots are my left buttocks, my scrotum, the top of my foot, some toes, some fingers, my shoulder, the "pants line" on my back, and my scalp.
I've been suffering through intense, and mostly unrelenting night itching for about 6 months now, with over 350+ in useless doctor bills, medication, and products to treat dry skin. I'm tired of scratching myself raw, giving myself sores all over (which is bad, as I've put a lot of self control into not scratching as much, in hopes of finally seeing a fucking burrow to know for sure), and losing countless hours of sleep. Am I the only one with seemingly every scabies symptom besides the rashes and burrows? Is there a way to get the doctors to take me seriously, without patronizing me because my symptoms aren't by-the-books? Is there a way to tell if I definitely have scabies, without dishing out more money for a doctor to most likely tell me it's dry skin/eczema? I just don't know what to do anymore.
I apologize for how long that was, but I felt it was needed to convey my situation.

You guys all should of treated at the same time or you would of just passed it back to each other, this is huge when dealing with scabies within a household, also permethrin creams are becoming less effective especially if you did not diagnose the scabies within the first week, try using sulfur creams they are 100% effective against scabies and mites. The myth about them not living above the neck area is false as scabies can live on your face and scalp (they will tend to live in your scalp because it is thicker and near your ears, mouth , nose because it provides some type of moisture), I think this myth comes from the fact the permethrin cream bottles say do not place above the neck but this is because the permethrin is very dangerous and can cause neurological problems. I would avoid using the permethrin alltogether and just come up with a game plan that consists of treating for 4 days in a row using sulfur, you simply apply the cream full body overnight for 4 nights and spot treat on areas with lessions or extra itchy areas during the day. This should be enough to eradicate a full scabies infestation. Here is a link to buy sulfur creams and soaps: Sulfur Creams and SoapsHope this helps!Leslie

I apologize for how long that was, but I felt it was needed to convey my situation. http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/scabies.html You are not alone I've had these things for YEARS unknowingly my family does too and they think I'm losing it when I try to tell them. Now That I know I'm at war. I've tried permethrin no dice. I'm moving on to bleach or borax and peroxide baths. I already use sulfur shampoo no help either. Yesterday I soaked in freaking fabuloso. I know crazy right I took two baths and a shower still itching. I've read that arm & hammer washing powder does the trick too, and will try that if the bleach baths don't work. Tell me how am I supposed to be cured if the rest of the household is in denial???? I can't move no money for it. So I shall break out the big guns. good luck to u, wish me the same

I think this idea will work.

But how would I go about treating my scalp effectively (those bottles look a bit small), and how would I effectively clean my environment, like my keyboard, game controllers, etc.?

Well, the only thing you can use on your face and scalp is sulfur products as permethrin creams can not be used above the neck up because they can cause neurological problems. As far as items like your controllers and other stuff simply bag it up in a sealed bag for a week or two to ensure you kill the scabies on them. In fact bag up anything you use on a daily basis until your in the clear. Remember you want to put the sulfur treatments on your body full body for the course of 14 hours overnight for 4-5 days in a row to completely kill the scabies lifecycle, scabies are more active at night so this is why you put it on during the evening hours.
