Alright im 15 and have dealt with scabies before. I had them last year and they stopped and everything was fine, but recently it showed up again and first thing was go to my dermatologist. I treated with permithrin monday (it really burns my skin so it sucked), washed my sheets and clothes, and slept in a seprate bed in my room witch i usually let friends sleep in. The itching has gone down a lot and i found out my parents both have it and i have 3 other kids in the house so its not looking great. My friends have slept at my house billions of times and never had scabies execpt one time because he slept in my bed one night and it slipped my mind but hes all better now.

Enough background information, sorry it felt necessary and it helps. Since you guys actually know a good amount about scabies i thought it would be easier than schedule another appointment with my dermatologist and waist money talking to him for like 5 minutes. I live in the basement of my house in my own room and since i was treated recently could i possibly receive it from my parents at all? since i know they have it i've kept distance from them and have washed my own clothes separately. I wasn't as paranoid last time like most people get but i just do not want to get reinfected. If i do get reinfected would my follow up treatment next week deal with it then? Also is it necessary to wrap plastic around mattresses just as a precaution since my parents and siblings do not have an extra bed like me? The most annoying part about this time is that i refuse to hug or shake hands with friends at school and have being distant because i don't want to spread this around, for i'm uncertain of reinfection. i also go to a private school and we have uniforms and i were the same pants and sweatshirt everyday should i wash them in case? my itching hasn't increased at all so i haven't been worried about it. I take showers everyday after working out and sweating from running, does that wash away the mites before they burrow? also how long does it take for them to burrow?

I really apreciate any answers, sorry for the long thread, and just address any question you are completely positive about. Also my family is treating themselves tonight and washing bedding, clothes, you know the works. So if you think i should be fine just say because its worrying me.

Thanks and seriously its not much to freak out about people are just using the treatment too much and it causes your skin to become very sensitive. Most people probably have caused the itching because of that, not the actual scabies. Also stressing about it makes it 10x worse just go running or something physically demanding...takes your mind off it and calms you

It is very likely you guys are briefly getting rid of it and then passing it around once again, you need to treat your whole family at the exact same time, if your using sulfur you will need 4-5 days straight overnight full body applications, but if you are using permethrin you may need another round 5-7 days later.

Yes stress does make thigns worse!

It is very key to treat your whole family of scabies at the same time even if they do not have any signs of symptoms of scabies. This is because scabies signs do not show up for weeks until your skin becomes allergic to the scabies mites and their fecal matter that layers underneath. So likely family members have scabies as well and are just not showing signs yet.
