Anything you cannot wash, like your couch or mattresses, should be vacuumed thoroughly. Leave absolutely no seam un-suctioned. If any of your furniture has holes, no matter how small, it may be forfeit. Bedbugs could be hiding within, and if left unchecked, could make all of your work pointless. Baseboards, around outlets and switches, all should be vacuumed. When changing your bag or cylinder, do it OUTSIDE. Nymphs can squeeze out through even the tiniest of seams. Once you’re done vacuuming, empty everything outside and clean your vacuum completely.

Sprays can work, but if not done right are a waste of time and money. Even if you’re not willing to hire an exterminator, you should still call a few and get their advice on how to kill bedbugs. Make sure, no matter what you decide to do, to act quickly and take care to be thorough. It only takes one surviving couple to restart an infestation.
