What is scabies?

Scabies is the rash that shows up as a result of the bites from tiny little mites under the skin. The toxins these mites emit in their bites causes a red, welting rash upon the skin of the inflicted person; this rash is usually most prevalent in the armpits, groin and abdominal areas. This itchy rash is highly contagious as well as being consistently irritating to the person with scabies. In fact, it is estimated that at least 300 million cases of this infestation appear worldwide every year. It is for these reasons that you should, upon learning that you have this parasite, seek immediate scabies rash treatments; this is not only to save yourself the discomfort and pain this rash can cause, but also to prevent it spreading to others as well.

Scabies Rash Treatments

There are several different methods you can use to rid yourself of the infestation of scabies rash causing mites, but all of them have one thing in common: you can not eradicate these mites completely using topical creams alone. You must wash all bedding and clothing in a hot water wash cycle and dry them in the hottest available setting on your drier. If your linens or clothes are dry clean only, or cannot be cleansed at all, place them into a sealable plastic bag (with no holes at all) In the meantime, here are a few topical ointments that work as scabies rash treatments:

To get rid of the infestation:

-Sulfur treatments are the most effective against battling any type of mites including scabies, bird and rat mites.
-Permethrin 5% (Elimite) prescription cream should be slathered on the entire body, except the face, just before bed. You can allow it to soak into the skin to slowly kill the mites and their eggs living within throughout the night and shower it off in the morning. This is also the recommended treatment for women who are pregnant, as it is less likely to cause any adverse effects.
-Lindane 1% lotion should be applied the same way as permethrin 5% cream, but absolutely not by pregnant women; due to its chemical composition, lindane even at 1% concentration is harmful to pregnant women and their fetuses.
-Ivermectin is taken orally, and treats other parasite infestations as well. This medication is dosed twice a day, with a dosage amount based upon the weight of the consumer and should not be taken by anyone allergic to this or any other medications, pregnant women, or any immune system related issues without FIRST consulting about such with their doctor.
-Crotamiton is a scabicidal drug that also has anti-itching properties, and should be applied to the entire body two to three times, with 24 hours’ time between applications.

To treat the itching and extreme discomfort of a scabies rash

-Benadryl or calamine lotions are highly effective at reducing the itchiness and discomfort.
-Taking a cool bath and applying a cool compress to the itchiest parts of the rash are both proven methods effective at relieving the itch.

For treatment you should be using real scabies treatments that work so you are not constantly treating yourself over and over. Kill your scabies using effective treatments, Visit http://www.ScabiesReview.com for Scabies Reviews.
