A lot of people are unaware of the fact that many of the their health problems can be contributed to bedbugs; the conditions these critters can cause include skin rashes, allergic symptoms, and psychological effects, in addition to many other problems. So it is of the utmost importance to eradicate bedbugs from your home and belongings thoroughly, before and while treating any of their physical or mental stresses upon yourself. There are several different ways you can treat bedbugs, depending on your living situation at home.

First of all you need to observe your bed closely for all the cracks, holes and openings where these bedbugs would be residing as these are the most favorite hideout of these insects. You will also need to observe all the cracks and nearby openings around the bed, as well as holes in furniture and electrical sockets. Bedbugs can fit into even the smallest of openings, so ensure you get everything. Furthermore, these bedbugs are so tiny that sometimes you can’t see them but the good thing is that they cannot jump or fly so they will only crawl to their hideouts. So make sure you fill up all the cracks and apply a sticky tape at the legs of the bed so that if they try to crawl on the bed or any other furniture, they will stick to the tape.

Treating Bedbugs When You Have Pets

Pets are really sensitive to the insecticides and pesticides that are often used to destroy bedbugs and their eggs; therefore you should always ensure that the method you are using to kill these pests is pet friendly. Fill up any and all openings, cracks and holes where your pets cannot reach with insecticides carefully; the areas which are accessible to your animals, you can apply cedar oil. This oil is not as deadly to pets as some of the more potent insecticides and pesticides used to kill bedbugs.

Treating Bedbugs in Apartments

Apartment buildings can be very difficult when it comes to treating bedbugs, as the insects can hide in the walls and can often travel from one apartment to another. When one apartment has bedbugs, all the units that are adjacent need to be treated as well. Whether they are on the sides or above or below, all the apartments in the vicinity are at risk of a bedbug infestation. You need to ask the landlord to take action for this. Otherwise if you only treat your apartment, it will be of no use and the bedbugs will soon return.

Treating Bedbugs in Hotels

If you have found out that the hotelroom you are currently occupying harbors bedbugs then you should immediately leave the room as well as the hotel as these bedbugs can get in your luggage and can travel with you. If you are not too sure whether there are bedbugs in the room or not, you can call the room services and get the room vacuumed and treated with insecticides in front of you. Also you can use hair-dryer on your bed closely before you lie down as bedbugs cannot survive in high temperatures.
